Categories

Categories was a board game written in VB6 in the summer of 2005. Categories was originally a pack of cards created by my sisters which had various common categories such as Counties, European Countries, Fruits, Dog Breeds, Vehicles etc. These would then be shuffled and each round would use a random category. Each player would then write a list of everything in that category they can think of in one - two minutes. When the time runs out, each player reads out their list. If any other player has the same item on their list, all players with that item must cross it out. The player's scores are then the number of unique items that they had written down.
It was then computerised by me where the timer, scores and category selection are done by the program. It also remembered what categories that had been previously done and made sure that only new ones where chosen. Categories can also be skipped if nobody wants to do it. Categories can also be added and removed.
Later on the program was updated with the feature of super categories which categorised the categories for example, counties and countries would go in the Geographic category and Action Films and Soap Operas would go in the Entertainment category. This then allows only certain Super Categories to be played in games.
I once tried converting it to VB.NET but this was shortly abandoned but then changed into what became Who's in the computer.
